Where are you located?

We are located in Midtown Indianapolis, just two blocks west of Meridian Street.

What are your age requirements?

We accept potty-trained children ages 2.5-6 years; however, please feel free to contact us if you are the parent of an older child, as we are considering an elementary cooperative for the future.

Does my child have to attend two mornings per week?

It is strongly advised that your child attend classes on a regular, twice-weekly basis, as this is vital to your child’s education and establishment of routine.  However, it is our goal to provide flexible options for families and we do consider special circumstances.

What does the word ‘cooperative’ mean?

In our case, ‘cooperative’ means we view your child’s education as a collaborative effort.  Parent participation is encouraged and expected.  We ask parents to bring snack on a rotating basis and occasionally assist with other duties such as planning field trips.  Parents are also invited to join the learning environment; however, this time must be scheduled with the directress.  Spending time in the classroom will enable parents to both observe their child and receive some informal training if they would like to continue Montessori lessons at home.  Unlike traditional preschools, our classroom is designed so that children of various ages can learn from one another.  Social interaction in the learning environment, as well as strong parental involvement, are key components of the Montessori philosophy and naturally fit the cooperative format.

Do you provide support for homeschooling families who are interested in the Montessori philosophy but do not desire weekly instruction?

Yes.  Meridian Montessori is unique in that we offer in-home consultations for families who wish to set up a Montessori learning space and/or begin Montessori homeschooling but do not desire weekly instruction.  We can also arrange one-on-one supplementary sessions and parent training at our Midtown learning center.  In addition, we occasionally offer group workshops, which are beneficial to both homeschooling and non-homeschooling families alike.  Please visit our Upcoming Events page or contact us for more information.

Do you offer supplementary sessions for children currently enrolled in a Montessori or non-Montessori school?

Yes, we are happy to provide supplementary sessions and work with your child’s current classroom teacher to develop an enrichment plan that meets your child’s needs.

How much is tuition?

We are committed to making Montessori schooling possible for every family.  By operating as a small cooperative, we are able to keep our tuition much lower than most Montessori schools.  We consider the high level of individualized instruction and preparation, as well as the cost of our high quality materials, when determining our tuition and fees.  Please contact us for further information regarding tuition, as well as the cost for in-home consultations, supplementary sessions and parent training.

How do I know if Montessori is right for my child?

Parents are encouraged to arrange an observation and/or informal meeting with our director to learn more about the Montessori philosophy and method of instruction.  As a community of Montessorians, we welcome the opportunity to connect you with other families who have experienced the Montessori difference.  Please also consider joining us for our fall or spring Open House.

Does Meridian Montessori follow the public school schedule?

We begin our regular school year right after Labor Day and end classes just before Memorial Day.  Typically, all public school holidays (including breaks) are observed.

Do you offer a summer program?

Yes.  Please click here for more information.
